Sharon Sorokin, Publisher

Bikabow is a joyful exclamation, invented by my daughter when she was a toddler. Think of it as “fabulous” or when preceding a person’s name, as “way to go!”What better title for a book publishing company could there be?

When a major publishing house blocked the acquisition of ZIGGY’S POTATO despite heroic efforts by two of its editors, and when other publishers seemed uncomfortable with a short, mythic children’s picture book set in a concentration camp, I decided to become my own publisher. With the expert guidance of the talented people on my advisory council and with many other supporters, over the course of two pandemic years, ZIGGY’S POTATO emerged.

I would be remiss to not acknowledge the many people who helped ZIGGY inception to publication and beyond. With apologies to anyone whose support has been inadvertently omitted, I thank the following people: Michael Berenbaum; Joanne and Georges Buzaglo; Suzy Becker; Miriam Camitta; Helen Cann; Margaret Chiarelli; the late Barbara Cohen-Kligerman; Brian Corbett; Elaine Crauder; Ann deForest; Neal Goff; Rachel Goff; Douglas Gordon; Gail Harlow; Jane Herling; Brooke Herter James; Julia W. James; Levi James; Michael James; the late Waleska E. James; Lorene Jean; Jerry Jennings; Gabrielle Kaplan-Mayer; Cathy Kozlowski; LeeAnn van der Kwast; Tom Mendicino; Laurie Novo; William Reiss; Maria Rico; Leonard H. Silver; Susan Slott Silver; Leo Sorokin; Kathy Temean; Scott Triemel; Rachel Sklar, and Claire Michelle Viola.

Will Bikabow Books publish other books? Yes, if and when the right books come along. When Bikabow Books opens for submissions, it will be announced here.
